Ahoy gamers! Happy first week of June. We’re almost to the middle of 2019 (already?!) and before you know it the summer sun will soon be rolling into town. When that happens, we know it’s time to start getting into the swing of prepping for our second event of the year: A Night of Gaming for Good on Top of the World, PAX 2019 edition, happening on August 30, 2019!
As we approach the midpoint of 2019 we thought we'd take a recap of the year so far. We're proud to continue on our mission of "gaming for good" with efforts like these.
Gaming for Good
On March 14, 2019 we hosted our first event of the year: A Night of Gaming for Good on Top of the World, ECCC Edition, and it was a wonderful evening of gaming and giving. For a mix of personal reasons (including but not limited to moving, new jobs, family illness and travel) the FTW team made the difficult but necessary decision to scale down this event. Though the evening was more intimate than our previous shindigs, your generosity was as stalwart and steadfast as ever and we still raised an incredible amount for the Seattle Children’s Hospital. We will be having the check presentation ceremony at our FTW Events Game Night next week on June 17th, so you should come! Without you, there wouldn’t be this awesome comically huge check to present, so as always, thank you for making it possible.
Partners in Good
On May 19, we were excited to once again be a sponsor of Mox Boarding House’s Gauntlet, a six-week fundraising gaming marathon that ultimately pitted teams of gamers against one another in heated tabletop tournaments and other showstopping Cirque-themed festivities. We were honored to support their cause by donating four tickets to our upcoming Night of Gaming for Good on Top of the World in August.
This was all in the name of raising funds for their beneficiary, El Centro De La Raza, an organization aimed at creating a more unified community in some of Seattle’s most marginalized and underrepresented populations since 1972, helping countless lives with a range of services such as child-care, job training and cultural exchanges.
We share the belief with Mox’s Engage Committee that tabletop gaming has a unique and potent ability to bring people together and be used as a force for good.
Looking forward
The year sped along and almost half of it is behind us but we still have our biggest even of the year to look forward to! Our focus will soon be on our Night of Gaming for Good on Top of the World, PAX West Edition on August 30, 2019. Stay tuned for more details, including when those tickets will go live (hint: very soon). Cheers!
